1991 – Dome sweet Dome. In the 3rd inning Puckett makes a great leaping catch. Kirby Puckett hits that famous home run in the bottom of the 11th inning and carries the Twins to a 4-3 win and sets the stage for game 7. Announcer Jack Buck utters that now famous line “and we will see you tomorrow night”. Charlie Leibrandt was the Braves hard luck loser that day and Rick Aguilera picked up the win. Box Score

Kirby Puckett played center field in the Metrodome from 1984 – 1995. Kirby’s game winning home run in Game 6 of the 1991 World Series off Charlie Leibrandt is one for the ages.

1960 – At an American League owners meeting in New York, owners agreed to allow the Washington Senators to move to Minnesota and become the Minnesota Twins. The Griffith family had operated the team in our nation’s capital ever since the immortal Clark Griffith – Calvin’s uncle – took over as manager of the club in 1912. The team moved to Minnesota with such legendary players as Harmon Killebrew, Bob Allison, Camilo Pascual and Jim Kaat. In a move designed to get a jump on the National League in the expansion race, the American League announces that it will expand by two teams and approves the move of the Senators. The new AL teams will play in Los Angeles as the Angels and in Washington, DC, as the Senators. All teams will play a 162-game schedule, with 18 games against each opponent.
