The Minnesota Twins have named High-A Cedar Rapids infielder Billy Amick and right-handed pitcher Jose Olivares as the Twins minor league Player and Pitcher of the Week.
Bill Amick, 22, played in seven games for the Kernels, hitting .480 (12-for-25) with four doubles, two home runs, seven RBI, five walks and a 1.461 OPS. The Mooresville, NC native was selected by the Twins in the second round (60th overall) in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Tennessee. Amick is rated by MLB Pipeline as the Twins 18th best prospect.
Jose Olivares, 22, made the start on Tuesday at Quad Cities, allowing one run on one hit in 6.0 innings pitched, with two walks and a career-high 10 strikeouts. The Altagracia de Orituco, Venezuela native was signed by the Twins as an international free agent in January of 2021. Olivares is rated by MLB Pipeline as the Twins 25th best prospect.
