2018 – The Minnesota Twins hire Rocco Baldelli as their new manager. Baldelli becomes the 14th Twins skipper and the first hire for the job from outside the organization since the team hired Ray Miller as their manager in June 1985. Baldelli has no managing experience.

2000 – Kirby Puckett is inducted into the World Sports Humanitarian Hall of Fame.

1987 – The Minnesota Twins, behind Frank Viola, win their first World Series by beating the St. Louis Cardinals 4-2 in Game 7, becoming the first team to win four home games. A Twins record World Series crowd of 55,376 fans watch the action. The franchise’s last championship came in 1924 as the Washington Senators. Box Score     Series Summary
