2016 – The Twins introduce their new Chief of Baseball Operations Derek Falvey and their new GM Thad Levine exactly five years after the team fired GM Bill Smith and gave the GM job back to Terry Ryan who started his second stint as the teams GM.

2011 – The Twins announce that GM Bill Smith has been relieved of his duties and that former GM Terry Ryan will take over as GM on an interim basis.

2001 – The players union files a grievance, claiming the contraction vote violates the current labor agreement. The current collective bargaining agreement, signed by players and owners in 1996, expires at midnight.
