1993 – The Twins trade pitcher Willie Banks to the Chicago Cubs for catcher Matt Walbeck and pitcher Dave Stevens.

1986 – The Twins announce interim manager Tom Kelly will be the club’s skipper next season. The Minnesota native, who replaced Ray Miller at the end of the season, will compile a losing record (1,140-1,244) but wins two World Championships during his 16-year tenure as skipper.

1975 – Gene Mauch is named the new Twins’ manager replacing popular skipper Frank Quilici who had a 280-287 (.494) record as the Twins skipper. The Little General will compile a 378-394 (.490) during his five-year tenure with Minnesota.
