2020 – To protect the health and well-being of the club’s fans, partners, players, staff, employees and communities during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Minnesota Twins today announced they have canceled the 2021 Winter Caravan and TwinsFest, both originally scheduled for January 2021. The Twins will instead bring fans a series of specially-designed virtual experiences throughout the off-season; details will be announced in the coming weeks. The Twins started TwinsFest in 1989 and according to the Twins had attendance of over 30,000 some years. I used to attend TwinsFest regularly way back then but have attended just once I think since they started holding them at Target Field. Target Field IMHO is not an ideal location for the fans and I also believe that the Twins are starting to price out the general public. I know it is a “charity event” but the ticket prices are getting high both for entry and autographs if you want to bring the family. The Winter caravans have been taking place since the team moved here in 1961 and the fans outside of the Twins City area really enjoy these visits but I am not sure they will be back.

2010 – Twins manager Ron Gardenhire is named as the American League Manager of the Year. Gardenhire had previously finished second in the voting five times, an American League record. Gardenhire was an easy pick after another AL Central crown, becoming the first manager in baseball history to win six division titles in his first nine seasons. Gardenhire drew 16 first-place votes and 108 points, and was the only AL manager listed on all 28 ballots. Gardenhire joins Tom Kelly (1991) as the only Twins Manager to win the honor.

1992 – The Twins lose catcher Jayhawk Owens and pitcher Curt Leskanic to the Colorado Rockies and pitcher Tom Edens to the Florida Marlins in the 1992 expansion draft.
