2012 – The Twins named Brad Steil the director of Minor League operations to replace longtime farm director Jim Rantz, who will retire at the end of the year.Additionally, the Twins finalized their training staff, as Dave Pruemer was named the head athletic trainer, Tony Leo the assistant athletic trainer and Lanning Tucker the assistant athletic trainer and rehabilitation coordinator.

1982 – Minnesota and Texas swap pitchers when the Twins acquire Len Whitehouse and give up John Pacella.

1955 – Calvin R. Griffith today was named president of the Washington Senators. The Senators’ board of directors elected him to take the place of Clark Griffith, baseball’s “Old Fox” who had passed away a few days earlier on October 27th. Calvin was Clark’s adopted son. Calvin had been the executive vice president of the club and in recent years, as Clark Griffiths aide, had assumed many of the administrative tasks.
