2023 – The Twins won their second-straight game over the A’s on the road, taking the series dub with a 10-7 victory. Minnesota scored two runs apiece in each of the first three innings but the game was tied 7-7 entering the top of the seventh. Kyle Farmer slugged a two-out, go-ahead solo shot in the seventh and the Twins tacked on insurance runs in the eighth (Byron Buxton bases-loaded walk) and ninth (Ryan Jeffers RBI sac bunt) for the win. The offense tallied 11 total hits, including three each from Farmer and Carlos Correa. Pablo López was the starter but took a ND after allowing seven runs on eight hits (2 HR), with three walks and seven strikeouts in 5.2 innings of work. Jovani Moran (0.2 IP, 1 BB, 1 K) earned the win in relief and Jhoan Duran notched his 14th save of the season. Box Score

2022 – The Twins dropped to 1-3 on their current homestand after losing to the White Sox at Target Field by a score of 6-2. Both teams score two in the first inning but the White Sox add on and the Twins don’t. Devin Smeltzer was the starter but did not factor into the decision, allowing two runs on five hits in 3 innings pitched. Smeltzer was not a happy camper after getting pulled after just three innings going into the All-Star break. The offense recorded seven hits, struck out just five times, went 2-for-8 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. Byron Buxton had two hits for the second straight game, while Alex Kirilloff drove in both Twins runs. The attendance was 27,021 as the Twins surpassed the 1-million mark in attendance on the season. 2021No game today. All-Star break.

2020 – The Minnesota Twins and all of baseball would be taking the day off for the All-Star break if all the games this season would not have been postponed/cancelled due to COVID-19. 98 Twins games missed so far. Twins Summer Camp 2020 is underway at Target Field and CHS Field.

2019 – No Game Today

2018 – The day before the All-Star break the Twins need to play extra-innings over 4 hours and 38 minutes at Target Field to beat the Tampa Bay Rays 11-7 on a Brian Dozier walk-off grand slam home run in the 10th inning. The final inning started with a Jake Cave double, Mitch Garver bunted Cave to third base. The Rays then intentionally walked Joe Mauer and Eddie Rosario to bring up Dozier who delivered with a GS home run to left off Matt Andriese on a 1-1 count. Rosario was 3 for 5 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored. Fernando Romero started for the Twins (4.1 innings) but was long gone before the game went final. Alan Busenitz pitched the final 1.1 innings and got his third win of the season. Box Score.

At the All-Star break the Twins find themselves with a 44-50 record in second place in the AL Central and 7.5 games behind the Indians. With so many teams with good records in the AL, a “wild card” spot is very unlikely so the Twins will probably need to win the division to make the play-offs, a long shot at best.

2015 – No game today, All-Star break.

2014No Game Today. The All-Star game was played at Target Field and 41,048 baseball fans watched as the American league beat the National League 5-3. This was the third All-Star Game played in the Twin Cities; Metropolitan Stadium hosted the game in 1965, while the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome hosted the game in 1985. In preparation for the game the Twin Cities’ transit company, MetroTransit, completed the new METRO Green Line light-rail between downtown Minneapolis and downtown Saint Paul, and began service on June 14, 2014. Twins closer Glen Perkins and catcher Kurt Suzuki made the team and played with Perkins getting the save. Box Score

2013 – No game today, All-Star break.

2009 – No Game today, All-Star break.

2008 No game today. The game was played at Yankee Stadium in The Bronx, New York City, home of the New York Yankees and began at 8:47 p.m. ET. The game ended at 1:38 a.m. ET the following morning. Justin Morneau scores the winning run in the bottom of the 15th inning at Yankee Stadium as the AL wins 4-3 for their 12th consecutive All-Star win. By length of time, this was the longest MLB All-Star Game in history (4 hours and 50 minutes), and it also tied the mark for the longest game by innings played at 15 with the 1967 All-Star Game. Second baseman Dan Uggla of the Florida Marlins committed three errors, an All-Star Game record, none of which resulted in a run.  Joe Mauer is the AL starting catcher and Joe Nathan also pitches in the game. 2003No game today. The game was held on July 15, 2003 at U.S. Cellular Field, the home of the Chicago White Sox of the American League. The game resulted in the American League defeating the National League 7–6, thus awarding an AL team (which was eventually the New York Yankees) home-field advantage in the 2003 World Series. This game was the first All-Star Game to award home-field advantage in the World Series to the winning league, a rule that stemmed from a controversial 7–7 tie in the previous year’s edition. In the days leading up to the game, Fox advertised it with the tagline: “This time it counts.” Subsequent editions altered the slogan to “This one counts” to reflect the new method of determining the World Series’ home-field advantage; that arrangement ended with the 2016 edition, where the AL team (which became the Cleveland Indians, now the Cleveland Guardians) also won home-field advantage; the AL would win the next six years, as well as the last four. The winning league had a 9–5 record in the corresponding year’s World Series, with the AL going 6–5 in the 11 years it won the All Star Game and the NL going 3–0 in the three years it won the All Star Game. Interesting tidbit – This was Eric Gagné’s only blown save of 2003, as he went a perfect 55 for 55 in save opportunities in the regular season. Twins closer Eddie Guardado was named to the AL team and participated in the game. Box Score

1989 – Jeff Reardon saves his 250th game as the Twins beat the Red Sox 3-2. Roy Smith starts for the Twins and goes six innings and allows just three hits and two runs. Juan Berenguer relieves and goes two scoreless innings for the win leaving the ninth for Reardon who comes in and  slams the door on the Red Sox.  Box Score

1987 – No game today, All-Star break.

1986 – No game today. The 57th All-Star game was played at the Astrodome in Houston, Texas, the home of the Houston Astros of the National League. The American League defeated the National League 3–2 and ended a streak where the NL won 13 of the last 14 games. Kirby Puckett represented the Minnesota Twins at the ASG and started in centerfield and hit lead-off. This was the last All-Star Game to be entirely played indoors until 2011, when it was played at Chase Field in Phoenix. Box Score

1981 – MLB on strike on which would have been the All-Star break.

1975No game today. The All-Star game was played at Milwaukee County  Stadium in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, home of the Milwaukee Brewers of the American League. The game was a 6–3 victory for the NL. While this was the first time that the Brewers were acting as hosts of the All-Star Game, this was not the first time the game had been played at Milwaukee County Stadium. The 1955 game had been played there when the Braves had called Milwaukee home. Thus, Milwaukee County Stadium joined Sportsman’s Park in St. Louis and Shibe Park in Philadelphia as the only stadiums to host All-Star Games with two different franchises as host. The 1975 All-Star Game saw the start of the tradition of naming honorary captains to the All-Star teams. The first honorary captains were Mickey Mantle (for the AL) and Stan Musial (for the NL). The game resulted in a 6–3 victory for the NL. Attendance was 51,480. Box Score

1970No game today, All-Star break.

1967 – The Kansas City A’s stole seven bases off the Twins but they neglected to steal the bats of Killebrew and Oliva. The A’s jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning on one hit, one error and 4 stolen bases. The Twins cut the lead in half in the bottom of the inning with a Killebrew home run. Pitchers Dean Chance and Lew Krausse then turned the game into a pitchers duel and the Twins were down 2-1 going into the bottom of the ninth. With Jack Aker now pitching for the A’s Harmon Killebrew greeted him with a home run to tie the game at 2-2 and Tony Oliva followed with another home run to walk-off the Athletics 3-2. The win coupled with a White Sox loss to the Angels brought the Twins within 1 1/2 games of the first place Southsiders. Ron Kline who pitched the ninth for Minnesota got the win. Box Score

1964 – Jim “Mudcat” Grant pitches a complete game and shuts out the Washington Senators 6-0 at Met Stadium and strikes out 6 in the process. However; what makes this game unique is that Grant gives up 13 hits (all singles) and a walk and still manages to pitch a complete game shutout. Second baseman Jim Snyder, Jimmie Hall and Rich Rollins each hit home runs to power the Twins to victory. Snyder’s home run was the only home run he would hit in his short big league career. Box Score

1961 – The crowd was smaller today, only 12,325 baseball fans were on hand at Tiger Stadium for a great pitchers duel between the Tigers Jim Bunning and the Twins Camilo Pascual.  The Tigers drew first blood in the bottom of the fifth on a Al Kaline double and the Twins tied it up at 1-1 when Earl Battey homered in the seventh. Tigers Utility player Bobo Osborne who was playing first base for Norm Cash who sat out the game with a foot infection took Pascual deep in the bottom of the eighth with his first home run of the season and the Tigers had a 2-1 lead. Bunning struck out the side in the ninth doubling his strikeout total on the day to six and the Twins short winning streak was over.  Pascual who pitched a complete game allowed two runs on seven hits and four walks while striking out seven took the loss bringing his record to 7-12. Bob Allison’s day was not so great either as he struck out three times and hit into a DP in four at bats. Zoilo Versalles was still not in the line-up but his wife arrived from Cuba today and Zoilo is ready to play ball again. In another odd scheduling scenario, the Twins are off to Cleveland to start a series on Sunday with a DH after playing the Tigers in Detroit on Friday and Saturday (today). Box Score
