2013 – The 2½-year mission to build a $1 billion new home for the Minnesota Vikings ceremonially kicked off Tuesday morning with a long-awaited groundbreaking outside the Metrodome. The Metrodome, home of the Twins from 1982-2009 will be demolished after the Vikings play the Detroit Lions in the final game of the 2013 season and the new Minnesota Vikings football stadium will be built on the site. U.S. Bank Stadium opened in 2016 and is home to the Minnesota Vikings and some early Minnesota Gopher baseball games.

2003 – The Twins trade pitcher Eric Milton to the Philadelphia Phillies and acquire infielder Nick Punto and pitchers Carlos Silva and Bobby Korecky as the PTBNL on December 17.




1971 – The Twins trade pitcher Tommy “The Blade” Hall to Cincinnati for pitcher Wayne Granger.


1968 – MLB changes some rules after the “Year of the Pitcher”. “The MLB Rules Committee adopts a series of changes designed to increase the amount of offensive run production in both leagues. In the most significant alterations, the committee agrees to decrease the size of the strike zone and lower the height of the pitcher’s mound from 15 inches to 10 inches. The rules changes will result in increased run-scoring in 1969.”
1966 – The Twins house cleaning continues as they complete their 2nd big deal in 2 days. This time the Twins acquire pitcher Ron Kline from Washington and in return the Twins give up pitcher Camilo Pascual and 2B Bernie Allen.
