2021 – The Minnesota Twins, in conjunction with the Minnesota Ballpark Authority (MBA), today announced that the new Target Field video display project has been awarded to Daktronics. With more than 10,000 square feet of LED display, the ballpark’s proposed new main video board would currently be the fourth largest in Major League Baseball, and the fifth to be HDR capable. Pending final agreement, the new Target Field main video board, along with any potential additions or alternate elements for the ballpark’s other digital displays, are set to be assembled in Minnesota at Daktronics’ Redwood Falls manufacturing plant, be installed next off-season and make their debut on Opening Day 2023. 2016 – Minnesota Twins great and MLB Hall of Famer Rod Carew underwent successful heart and kidney transplant surgery that lasted about 13 hours.

2010 – The Minnesota announced today that they have acquired left-handed pitcher Paul Bargas from the Colorado Rockies in exchange for catcher Jose Morales. Bargas passed away from brain cancer at the age of 23 on June 27, 2012.

2002 – The Minnesota Twins release first baseman David Ortiz. The unheralded player will soon be picked up by the Boston Red Sox, for whom he will develop as one of the most accomplished sluggers in the game and a Hall of Fame member.
