2023 – The Twins shut out the Pirates on a Sunday afternoon at Target Field by a score of 2-0. Dallas Keuchel (1-1) was the starter and winner (first win as a Twin) in his third start with Minnesota, pitching 6.1 shutout innings, with one hit allowed, no walks and three strikeouts. Keuchel carried a perfect game for all 6.1 innings until allowing a one-out double to Bryan Reynolds in the seventh. Griffin Jax (19) and Caleb Thielbar (10) each earned holds as Jhoan Duran recorded his 23th save (27th opp). The Twins offense recorded five hits, two from Donovan Solano (single, double). Edouard Julien went 1-for-2 with a double and drove in both runs. The Twins struck out 16 times today, the seventh time this season they have had this many, previously they have never had more than four in a season. The Twins completed their five-game, six day homestand with a record of 3-2, going 1-1 vs. Detroit, followed by a 2-1 series win over the Pirates. The Twins travel to Milwaukee and will begin a two-game series with the Brewers at American Family Field. Box Score

2022 – RANGERS SPOIL THE GARDY PARTY: The Twins lost to the Rangers at Target Field by a score of 4-3 in 10 innings, losing on the night of former manager Ron Gardenhire’s Twins Hall of Fame induction as he became the 35th member to join the group. The Twins closed a 2-1 deficit and tied the game in the bottom of the eighth but the Rangers scored two in the 10th to seal the victory. Chris Archer was the starter but did not factor into the decision, allowing one run on three hits in 5 innings pitched, with one walk and five strikeouts. Caleb Thielbar (2-2) took the loss. The offense recorded six hits, left 10 men on base and went 1-for-10 with runners in scoring position. A good recipe for defeat. Box Score

2021 – There seems to be no explanation for the Twins bad play against the New York Yankees. The Twins lose to the Yankees by a score of 10-2, falling into a 7-0 deficit before getting on the board with two runs in the sixth inning at Yankee Stadium. Charlie Barnes (0-3) was the starter and loser, allowing seven runs on eight hits (1 HR) in five innings pitched, with five walks and two strikeouts. Rocco Baldelli kept him in the game for 109 pitches, a season high for Twins pitchers so far this season. Kyle Barraclough who has not pitched in the big leagues since 2019 made his Twins debut in relief of Barnes with two innings pitched allowing two hits, both home runs and three runs. The Twins offense recorded just four hits. Josh Donaldson hit his 17th home run. Things look no better for the Twins tomorrow as they get to face the Yankee Ace Gerrit Cole. Hurricane Henri is coming up the East coast and that might be the Twins best hope. Box Score

2020 – The Twins finished off their seven game homestand with a 7-1 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers at Target Field and in the process won their seventh series (7-1-1) of the season. José Berríos (2-3) was the starter and winner, pitching 6 shutout innings with one hit allowed, one walk and nine strikeouts. Ryan Jeffers made his major league debut, starting behind the plate, going 2-for-3, with an RBI-single in his first major league at-bat. After 26 games Twins starting pitchers have a 3.29 ERA (120.1 IP, 44 ER), the third best in baseball, trailing Cleveland (2.49) and Cincinnati (3.15), they have a .199 opponent batting average – the best in baseball. 2019 – After having their four game winning streak snapped yesterday by the visiting Chicago White Sox, the Twins got back in the W column with a 14-4 shellacking of those hated mighty whitey’s, scoring seven runs in the eighth inning. Michael Pineda (9-5) was the starter and winner, allowing four runs on six hits in 7 innings pitched and threw 79.5% of his pitches for strikes (70/88). The bullpen contributed two hitless scoreless innings. The offense recorded 14 hits, four from Nelson Cruz, who recorded three doubles and a home run (33). Jorge Polanco (19) and Max Kepler (34) also hit Bombas. C.J. Cron, Kepler and Cruz each drove in three runs apiece. With Jorge Polanco batting, a squirrel appeared on the field  for the second straight night running in from right field and right through the legs of Kepler who was on first st the time. Box Score

2018 – The Chicago White Sox show up at Target Field for one game to make up an April 15 game that was postponed due to inclement weather. Ironically the start of the game was delayed 33 minutes due to rain, but at least it wasn’t snow like back in April. Twins starter Stephen Gonsalves made his major league debut but it was not what he had hoped for, the nervous Gonsalves lasted just 1.1 innings, throwing 55 pitches and allowing 6 hits, 2 walks, 4 runs and struck out 3 while taking the loss. The 47-77 Whitey’s jumped on top early and stayed there for an 8-5 victory. Max Kepler had a home run and a triple and Jake Cave also hit a home run. After the game both teams flew to Chicago for a two-game series. Box Score

Bartolo Colón was the starter and winner, allowing four runs on seven hits in 6.0 innings pitched. The win gave him (Bartolo Colon)  a victory over all 30 teams for his career making him the 18th pitcher in MLB history to accomplish this feat. The Twins had 12 hits and 3 home runs. Brian Dozier hit his 25th, Eddie Rosario hit his 17th, a grand slam and Chris Gimenez hit his 6th, a career high. Box Score

1981 – No game today, scheduled day off.

1967 – A bad day for Minnesota Twins fans as the New York Yankees and Twins menace Mel Stottlemyre beat Minnesota 7-3. All three Twins runs came via the home run, two from Tony Oliva and one from Zoilo Versalles. Twins starter Jim Perry lasted just 4.1 innings and allowed four runs. The Twins lead in the AL was cut to just a half game as the Twins lost and the second place White took two from the Orioles and the third place Red Sox just a game and a half out took both ends of a DH from the Angels. 1962 – The Twins jumped on Red Sox starter Don Schwall for three runs in the bottom of the first inning at the Met on two hits, a walk and an error and went on to beat the 58-67 visitors 6-4. Dick Stigman got his eighth win of the season when he went 7.1 innings and allowed all four Sox runs. Harmon Killebrew was 2 for 4 with a home run and 2 RBI and Rich Rollins had 3 hits in 4 at bats with 1 RBI. Box Score

1961 – Jack Kralick and fellow pitcher Al Schroll hit home runs for the Twins, to become the sixth pitching duo in major league history to hit a homer for the same team during a single season game. Kralicks’ home run was the first of his career. Almost lost in the shuffle is the fact that Lenny Green hits the Twins first ever lead-off home run as the first batter of the game and then hits another home run in his next at bat in the third inning. Minnesota defeated the Los Angeles Angels, 9–7 at Wrigley Field. Box Score
