With 10 strikeouts from Jose Berrios on Opening Day and 11 strikeouts from Jake Odorizzi yesterday, it’s only the second time in MLB history (since 1893) that a team has had a pitcher strike out 10+ batters in the first two games of the season. The only other team to have a pitcher strike out 10+ in each of its first 2 games of a season is the 2001 Arizona Diamondbacks Randy Johnson & Curt Schilling. Not bad company at all. Who would think that Twins pitchers would set strikeout records?
