2001 – The major league’s plan to contract by two teams next season is put into jeopardy by Minnesota courts. The state’s Supreme Court refuses to grant the request for a speedy review of the appeal of the injunction which forces the Twins to play in 2001, and the appellate court sets the hearing for December 27, a date many believe is too late to make the elimination of two teams a reality.
1972 – The Twins receive first baseman Joe Lis and pitchers Ken Reynolds and Ken Sanders from the Phillies in return for outfielder Cesar Tovar. In another deal that same day, this time with the Cubs, they acquire pitchers Bill Hands, Joe Decker and Bob Maneely and part ways with pitcher Dave LaRoche.
1971 – The Twins and California Angels hook up in a deal and the Twins get pitcher Dave LaRoche and the Angels get shortstop Leo Cardenas.
