2023 – The Twins won 10-3 and evened this series at one game each. Bailey Ober was the Twins starter and earned the win after allowing three runs on seven hits (1 HR), with no walks and five strikeouts in 6 innings of work, good for his 10th quality start of the season; after allowing three runs on six hits in the first inning, yielded just two base runners the rest of the way. The offense erupted for 14 hits, including multi-hit games by Carlos Correa (2-for-6), Edouard Julien (3-for-5), Alex Kirilloff (3-for-4, double shy of the cycle), Max Kepler (2-for-3) and Willi Castro (3-for-5). The slumping Byron Buxton in an 0 for 22 streak was given a seat on the bench. Over his eight-year career, Buxton has endured six hitless stretches lasting more than 20 PA’s and four of them have occurred this season. The bullpen trio of Jordan Balazovic (1.0 IP, 1 H, 1 BB), Emilio Pagán (1.0 IP, 1 K) and Cole Sands (1.0 IP, 1 H, 1 K) tossed 3.0 scoreless innings to close out the win. The Twins were one of 12 teams in the majors to score at least 10 runs yesterday, matching May 30, 1884 for the second most in a single day all-time, trailing the 13 teams that did so on July 4, 1894 (Sarah Langs/Elias). 2021 – The Twins lost to the Tigers at Comerica Park by a score of 7-0, suffering their fifth sweep of the season. J.A. Happ (5-5) was the starter and loser, allowing seven runs on 11 hits over his seven innings on the mound. The offense recorded six hits, two from both Luis Arraez and Trevor Larnach. The Twins were shutout for the fifth time this season and second time on this trip. The Twins were out-scored 13-4 in this three game series in Detroit. The Twins, 39-53 are now off to Chicago to take on the first place White Sox. The trade deadline is getting near and there is a lot of talk in the media about a Twins sell-off coming soon. 2020 – The Minnesota Twins were scheduled to be in Texas to play in the Rangers new ballpark if all the games this season would not have been postponed/cancelled due to COVID-19. 100 Twins games missed so far this season. Twins Summer Camp 2020 remains underway at Target Field and CHS Field.
2019 – The red-hot Oakland A’s stop in at Target Field for a four game series with the Twins. The Twins finally prevail over the A’s by a score of 6-3. Kyle Gibson (9-4) was the starter and winner, allowing three runs on six hits in 7 innings (106 pitches) pitched and Taylor Rogers earned his 14th save with 2 scoreless innings, his eighth career save of more than three outs. The Twins had nine hits but no one had more than one. Eddie Rosario hit a three-run pinch hit homer in the seventh inning (3rd PH HR of career), down 3-1, giving the Twins a one run lead. It was the first Twins pinch-hit home run of the season. Mitch Garver (16) and C.J. Cron (18) each added solo homers in the eighth inning. 2016 – On the field at Comerica Park the 33-58 Twins managed just three hits and were shut out by four Tigers pitchers with starter and winner Matt Boyd allowing all three Twins hits in 6 innings. Twins starter Ricky Nolasco went six inning and pitched well enough to win but not on this day as he too allowed just three hits (all the Tigers would get) but one was a Justin Upton home run in the second inning and that would be the ball game. The Minnesota Twins announced today that Executive Vice President, General Manager Terry Ryan has been relieved of his duties. Beginning immediately, Vice President, Assistant General Manager Rob Antony will assume Ryan’s duties on an interim basis.
2015 – With the Twins on the road in Oakland 44,152 people took in Kenny Chesney’s “The Big Revival” tour and Jason Aldean’s “The Burn It Down” tour at Target Field, the highest-attended concert in ballpark history.

2011 – A tough day at Target Field no matter how you look at it. The Twins had a split doubleheader scheduled for today due to a rain-out with the Cleveland Indians back on April 22. We attended the first game of the DH which was the make-up game and during the game the temperature was 98 degrees and the heat index reached 111 degrees and when the game ended the Twins lost 5-2. It was a hot one for sure. The temp was hot and muggy but the Twins bats were cold. Joe Mauer managed to get three hits and Michael Cuddyer hit a two-run homer but other than that there was not much to cheer about. Anthony Swarzak started and earned the loss. Box Score
The Twins went on the lose the second game of the DH by a 6-3 score, because three two-run innings beat three one-run innings. Mauer got three more hits and this time Danny Valencia and Trevor Plouffe supported him with home runs to no avail. Scott Diamond made his major league debut as the starter and took his first major league loss when he allowed four run, three earned in 6.1 innings of pitching. 1965 – The Twins play two at the Met against the California Angels. In the first game Fred Newman and his Angel teammates beat Jim Kaat and his boys 5-3. Don Mincher led the Twins attack by going 2 for 3 with a home run and two RBI. Twins Manager Sam Mele is ejected by first base umpire Bill Valentine arguing the play at first base in the 6th inning; during the argument, Mele punched Valentine. Mele is fined $500 and suspended five days following the altercation.
In the second game the Twins score twice in the bottom of the eighth inning to come from behind to beat the Angels 5 t0 4 thanks to a Don Mincher bases empty home run and an unusual Angels double play and error that allowed Bob Allison to score an unearned run which proved to be the winner.

1962 – Minnesota is the first AL club to hit 2 grand slams in one inning when Bob Allison (off Barry Latman) and Harmon Killebrew (off Jim Perry) connect in a club-record, 11-run first inning, against Cleveland. The Twins and Dick Stigman coasted home 14-3. I was fishing on the St. Croix River that evening after helping milk the cows listening to the game on my transistor radio and remember it like it happened yesterday. Dick Stigman pitched a complete game for the win and struck out 11 batters along the way. Box Score

1961 – The 37-53 expansion Los Angeles Angels host the 37-52 Minnesota Twins at Wrigley Field and 4,002 fans show up to watch as the Angels win 4 to 1. Angels starter Ken McBride pitches a complete game striking out 11 Twins and allowing 7 hits. Twins starter Pedro Ramos allows three runs in seven innings striking out 10 Angels and takes the loss making his record 6-11. Jim Lemon goes 2 for 4 with a double and Earl Battey has the Twins only RBI. The Twins outhit the Angels 7-6 but left 11 runners stranded. The Twins loss allowed the Angels to leap-frog the Twins and take over eight place and dropped the Twins to ninth, just above the lowly Washington Senators. Box Score
