1996 – Paul Molitor gets his 3,000th career hit, becoming the 21st major leaguer to reach the mark and the first to do it with a triple (off Jose Rosado) while the Twins were on the road in Kansas City. The ‘Igniter’ reaches this milestone in the same season in which he also collects 200 hits, making him the only player to accomplish both feats in the same campaign. Molitor had 3 hits in 4 AB’s with one run and one RBI. The Twins end up losing the game 6-5 with Brad Radke taking the loss.

1993 – The A’s jump out to a quick 2-0 lead at the Metrodome before the Twins even come to bat and the score remains unchanged until the bottom of ninth. Kirby Puckett leads off the ninth with a triple off “The Eck”, Chip Hale strikes out looking and that brings up Dave Winfield who becomes the 19th player in major league history to get 3,000 hits when he singles off Dennis Eckersley to score Puckett. In the process Winfield became the first player wearing a Twins uniform to get his 3,000th hit. Brian Harper pinch-hits for Pedro Munoz and singles putting runners at the corners with one out. Shane Mack is brought in to run for Harper and Bernardo Brito hits for Derek Parks but strikes out making it two on and two out. Scott Stahoviak singles in Winfield tying the score at 2-2 and the Twins send Mack but he is thrown out at home for the third out and it is time for bonus baseball. No one scores in innings ten through twelve, but in the top of the thirteenth the A’s score twice off Twins reliever Brett Merriman before Mike Hartley can put out the fire. The Twins are not done by any means, Chuck Knoblauch drives in a run, Pat Mears drives in another and we are once again tied. With two out and runners at first and second Chip Hale delivers a single off some guy named Roger Smithberg and the Twins have a walk-off 5-4 win over the Oakland A’s. Mike Hartley gets his first win as a Minnesota Twin and as it has it, the only win he will get as a Twins pitcher in 53 games. Not bad for a guy that faced and retired just one batter in the game and threw just two pitches WOW!, what an exciting four hours and 36 minutes of historic baseball. Box Score

1970 – Pitcher Clyde Wright becomes the California Angels second ever 20 game winner when he beat the Twins and Bert Blyleven 5-1 at Met Stadium. Bert Blyleven, a 19-year old rookie, ties an AL record by striking out the first six batters (Sandy Alomar, Tony Gonzalez, Jim Fregosi, Alex Johnson, Ken McMullen, and Jay Johnstone). 1961 – The Cleveland Indians and Barry Latman came out on top in a tight pitchers duel with the Minnesota Twins and Pedro Ramos and it’s a shame that only 2,946 baseball fans showed up at Cleveland Stadium to watch it. The only scoring took place in the fifth inning when Ramos gave up a gopher ball to shortstop Woodie Held to lead off the inning and the Indians followed that with a Jack Kubiszyn single and a Valmy Thomas double that scored Kubiszyn. The Twins who had only four hits, two by Billy Martin, didn’t get a runner past second base and never had more than one runner on the bases at any point in the game. Ramos went eight innings and deserved a better fate but his tendency to give up the long ball hurt him once again and his record dropped to 11-18. Latman (13-4) garnered the complete game shutout, the tenth time that the Twins have been shutout this season. Box Score
