1991 – The Braves knot the 1991 World Series at two games each when they walk-off the Twins 3-2 in Atlanta. With runners at first and third and one out in the ninth inning reliever Steve Bedrosian is brought in to face pinch-hitter Jerry Willard who hits a sac fly to right field to score the winning run. Mike Pagliarulo was 3 for 3 with a home run, two RBI and a run scored in the losing cause and Mark Guthrie was the losing pitcher. Box Score

1979 – Former Minnesota Twins manager and current New York Yankee manager Billy Martin is involved in a barroom altercation in a Minneapolis hotel with Joseph Cooper, a Minnesota marshmallow salesman. Cooper requires 15 stitches to close a gash in his lip. The fight leads to Martin getting fired by the Yankees one more time.

1974 – The Twins acquire outfielder Dan Ford and pitcher Dennis Myers from the A’s and send first baseman Pat Bourque back to the A’s.

1970 – Twins VP and minor-league director Sherry Robertson dies in an automobile accident at the age of 51 while on a pheasant hunting trip in Houghton, South Dakota. Robertson was one of Calvin Griffith’s three brothers and he played in the majors for ten seasons. Sherry Robertson had been the farm director since 1956 and a VP since 1966.
