2002 – The Angels whip the Twins 7-1 in game 4 of the 2002 ALCS at Anaheim and take a 3-1 lead in the series. David Ortiz was 2 for 4 with an RBI and was the only Twins with more than one hit. Brad Radke gets his first post season loss in a game that he did not pitch that poorly but the Twins offense couldn’t get anything going against John Lackey who took the win. Box Score
2001 – Tom Kelly retires as the Twins winningest manager ever with a record of 1,140-1,244 at the age of 50.

1991 – Jack Morris bests Todd Stottlemyre and wins his second game of the 1991 ALCS with eight strong innings when he and the Twins clobber Toronto 9-3 and are now just one game away from advancing to the World Series. Kirby Puckett homers and goes 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI and Dan Gladden also has 3 hits and 3 RBI. Box Score
1987 – The Minnesota Twins beat the Detroit Tigers 9-5 and win their first American League pennant in 22 years as Bert Blyleven wins his second game of the series. Tom Brunansky and Dan Gladden each get three hits. The Twins, with the worst road record of any pennant or division winner in history (29-52), took two of three in Detroit to win the best-of-seven ALCS playoffs in five games. The Twins are greeted by over 50,000 fans waiting at the Metrodome (and I was one of them) following their victory in Detroit which gave them their first AL pennant in 22 years. Box Score
