2024 – Through Twins executive chair Joe Pohlad, the owning Pohlad family announced Thursday its intent to explore a sale of the Minnesota Twins after 40 years of ownership that began in 1984, a period that marked the fourth longest among all active ownership groups in MLB.

2023 – The Twins lost to the Astros at Target Field by a score of 9-1, their largest margin of defeat in a playoff game since an eight-run, 13-5 loss in Game 5 of the 2002 ALCS on October 13, 2002 at Anaheim. Sonny Gray (0-1) was the starter and loser, allowing five runs (4 earned) on eight hits in 4 innings pitched, with one walk and six strikeouts. He allowed four runs to cross in the first inning, highlighted by a José Abreu three-run homer, just his ninth home run allowed all season. The offense recorded just three hits and walked seven times. The Twins only run came in the sixth inning on a Willi Castro RBI single to right field. Minnesota went 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. They are now 4-for-27 with RISP this series and 5-for-37 with RISP during the playoffs. Minnesota is 7-12 all-time in the Postseason when facing elimination, their last victory in such an instance was Game 5 of the ’02 ALDS at Oakland on October 6. 2017 – Minnesota Twins center fielder Byron Buxton was honored as the American League’s top defender receiving the Rawlings Platinum Glove Award at the Gold Glove ceremony in New York. Buxton is the first Twins player to win a Platinum Glove, an award established in 2011. The National League Platinum Glove winner was third baseman Nolan Arenado from the Colorado Rockies.

1987 – The Twins are beaten by the Tigers 7-6 in Detroit Tiger Stadium in game 3 of the ALCS. The Tigers had jumped out to a 5-0 lead but fell behind 6-5 before scoring twice in the bottom of the eighth on a two-run home run by Pat Sheridan off Twins closer Jeff Reardon. Greg Gagne and Tom Brunansky both hit home runs in the losing effort.  Box Score

1965 – The Los Angeles Dodgers tie the World Series at two games each when Don Drysdale turns the tables and beats Mudcat Grant 7-2 with a five-hit complete game in spite of the fact that both Harmon Killebrew and Tony Oliva hit home runs at Dodger Stadium. Box Score
