2009 – The Twins unveil new uniforms and logos for the inaugural season at Target Field.

2006 – Johan Santana wins his second AL Cy Young award as a unanimous pick. Santana received all 28 first-place votes for a perfect total of 140 points in balloting by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America. Chien-Ming Wang of the New York Yankees finished a distant second with 15 second-place votes and 51 points. Toronto’s Roy Halladay was third.

2001 – Minnesota Hennepin County District Judge Harry Seymour Crump issues an injunction preventing the Twins from being eliminated, ruling that it would violate the team’s lease with the Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission, which operates the Metrodome.

1998 – The Yankees acquire pitcher Dan Naulty from Minnesota and give up 3B/1B Allen Butler. Butler never reached the major leagues.

1977 – Twins’ first baseman Rod Carew wins the American League’s MVP award. He led the league in hitting with a .338 batting average. Carew is the third Twins player to win this distinguished award in the Twins 17 years of existence. They would not win another for 29 years, until 2006 when Justin Morneau won it.
