2024 – THE WINNING STREAK STOPS AT 12: The Twins lost to the Red Sox in a Sunday afternoon game by a score of 9-2, ending their 12-game winning streak and losing for the first time in two weeks. Joe Ryan (1-2) was the starter and loser, allowing three runs on four hits in 6 innings pitched, with one walk and five strikeouts, including a two-run homer allowed to Ceddanne Rafaela in the fifth inning. Carlos Correa (1-for-2, 2 BB) and Max Kepler (2-for-3, BB) each reached three times. Ryan Jeffers hit his sixth home run of the season, a solo shot in the third inning. Brennan Bernardino (1-1) gets the win. The attendance was 29,638, the highest for Minnesota since the Home Opener (35,595), April 4 versus Cleveland. The Twins have gone 6-1 in their last seven home games after starting the season 2-6 in their home park. Willi Castro’s 10-game hitting streak was also snapped. 2023 – The Twins shut out the Guardians at Progressive Field by a score of 2-0, marking their third shutout this season (3/30 at KC & 4/1 at KC). Bailey Ober (2-0) was the starter and winner, pitching 7 shutout innings with three hits allowed, falling one out short of tying his career high for innings pitched. Guards starter Peyton Battenfield who ended up taking the loss (0-3) retired his first 17 batters until a two-out Christian Vázquez single, followed by Max Kepler two-run homer in the sixth inning, proving to be all the scoring on the night. Jorge Polanco had the third hit for the Twins as the three hits marked their fewest in a victory since a 2-1 win at Boston on September 5, 2019, when they had two hits. 2022 – This Twins’ are dealing with their second COVID outbreak in two years. The team had two games against the Angels in Anaheim postponed in April 2021 after several members of their traveling party tested positive. Now manager Rocco Baldelli and two players (Luis Arraez and Dylan Bundy) have tested positive for the virus prior to the team’s series finale against the Orioles in Baltimore. Bench coach Jayce Tingler will serve as acting manager in Baldelli’s place. The Twins ended up losing to the Orioles at Camden Yards by a score of 5-3, splitting the four-game series. Chris Archer was the starter but did not factor into the decision, allowing two runs on five hits in 4 innings pitched with no walks and a season-high six strikeouts. The bullpen that has pitched so well of late, allowed three runs on six hits in 4 innings of relief. The offense recorded nine hits, including three singles from Max Kepler. Byron Buxton hit his eighth home run of the season, a 452-foot shot over the bullpens. The Orioles scored all five of their runs on solo home runs. The 15-11 Twins have completed their seven-game road trip with a record of 4-3 and now head home for their longest home stand of the season by playing nine games in 10 days against Oakland, Houston and Cleveland. 2021 – The Twins lose to the Texas Rangers at home by a score of 3-1. Lewis Thorpe (0-1) was the starter and loser, allowing three runs on five hits while matching a career-high in innings pitched (5). The bullpen combined to pitch four scoreless innings. Mitch Garver provided the only offense with his sixth home run of the season. The Twins had 8 hits with Nelson Cruz and Kyle Garlick getting two apiece but were 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base. The scheduled 6:40 p.m. start of the game was delayed for 31 minutes due to rain in the area. Grounds crew began pulling tarp around 6:25 p.m. and game started at 7:11 p.m. Box Score
2020 – The Twins would have been home at Target Field today playing the San Francisco Giants and Dan Gladden would have been in his element but as we all know, the season thus far has been postponed/canceled due to COVID-19. Counting today it means we have missed 36 games so far.
2019 – Michael Pineda (2-3) faced his old New York Yankee team for the first time since he underwent TJ surgery in 2017 and ended up a 4-1 loser in a game shortened to eight innings by rain after a 61 minute weather delay at Yankee Stadium III. The games start time was pushed back two hours the day before to avoid predicted rain to being with. was pushed back Pineda went five innings allowing four runs while striking out eight. The Twins again only mustered four hits with Marwin Gonzalez getting two of them. The Twins have hit 56 home runs so far through 32 games and have a 201-12 record and a two game lead in the Central Division. Box Score
2018 – The Twins who went into the game with an 11-17 record beat the 9-21 Chicago White Sox at Guaranteed Rate Field by a score of 8-4, winning for the third time in their last four games, and their first back-to-back wins since April 11-12. Twins starter Lance Lynn (1-3) won his first game as a member of the Twins, allowing two runs on eight hits in 6.0 innings, his first quality start of 2018. Yesterday it was Eduardo Escobar who had the big day and today it was Eddie Rosario who went 4-for-5 with a home run and five RBI, the Twins first four-plus hit-game since Rosario had four hits September 26, 2017, and the most RBI by any Twin in 2018. 2017 – The Twins beat the Red Sox last night by a score of 4-3 in walk-off fashion, their first of 2017 after blowing a 3-1 lead after 8 innings when Boston scored twice in the ninth off Brandon Kintzler to tie the game at 3 runs each. Phil Hughes was the starter but did not factor into the decision, allowing
one run on six hits in 6.2 innings pitched. Joe Mauer hit a walk-off home run with two outs in the ninth inning, his first and only career walk-off homer, third career walk-off hit and fourth career

2005 – On 05/05/05, the Twins scored five times in the fifth inning en route to a 9-0 victory over the Indians at the Metrodome. 2001 – Minnesota closer LaTroy Hawkins blew a save for the first time in 24 career chances as the Kansas City Royals beat the Minnesota Twins 12-10 in 12 innings. Twins third baseman Corey Koskie led the Twins hit parade by going 4 for 7 with a run scored and a stolen base but it was not enough. Reliever Travis Miller gave up a 2-run walk-off home run to Dee Brown to take the loss. LaTroy sets a MLB record with 23 saves in 23 chances at the beginning of his closer career. Box Score

1961 – The Twins break their three game losing streak with a 5-1 win over the visiting Boston Red Sox when Jack Kralick pitches a quick 2 hour and 10 minute complete game allowing six hits and striking out six BoSox in front of just 3,937 Twins fans at Met Stadium on a 56 degree day with 24 mph winds. Earl Battey had two hits and a RBI and Harmon Killebrew had one hit and two RBI. Box Score
I just read the article about the 1994 exhibition in Fort Wayne. I lived there at the time and the city was soooo excited about the Wizards anyway, but the Twins coming to town took it to another level. I remember Kirby Puckett hitting a line drive to second, and based on the 2B reaction, I’m pretty sure that he had never seen a ball hit that hard. I also remember that Dave Winfield played the whole game and in a post game interview, he praised the new stadium, wishing that he had had the chance to play in such a nice MiLB stadium.
