2024 – The Twins lost to the Guardians again and got swept in three games at Progressive Field by a score of 5-2 stretching their losing streak to six games. Chris Paddack was the starter but did not factor into the decision, allowing two runs (Andrés Giménez 2-run homer) on three hits in a career-high 8 innings pitched, with no walks and six strikeouts. Jhoan Duran (0-2) was issued the loss, his second of the series/trip, allowing a three-run walk-off homer to Will Brennan with two outs in the bottom of the ninth. Twins hitters recorded just four hits, highlighted by a solo home run from Jose Miranda. Max Kepler added a double, his 11th of the season. The Twins are now on to Washington to try to break their losing streak against the Nats. Box Score
– After losing two of three to the Dodgers the Twins moved on to try their luck against the Angels. But, the Twins lost to Reid Detmers and the Angels at Angel Stadium by a score of 5-4. Joe Ryan was the starter but did not factor into the decision, allowing three runs (2 earned) on seven hits in 6 innings pitched, with one walk and nine strikeouts. Detmers held the Twins hitless until the sixth inning. The offense recorded six hits, walked four times and struck out 16 times. The 16 strikeouts tied their season high done previously on April 18 at Boston. Kyle Farmer, playing in his 500th career game, went 2-for-4 with one RBI. Willi Castro went 1-for-4 with a solo homer. 2021 – The Twins lost to the White Sox by a score of 2-1 behind the strong pitching of Lucas Giolito who allowed one run on just two hits over 8 innings while striking out 11 Twins batters. Matt Shoemaker (2-5) was the Twins starter and loser, allowing two runs on five hits in 6 innings pitched. The offense recorded just two hits, both coming from Nelson Cruz as he singled and homered, his 10th of the season in a snappy game that was played in two hours and 35 minutes. The Twins fell to 3-9-1 in series play this season, including 1-6 at Target Field and now hit the road for Anaheim with their tails between their legs where they will play two make-up games tomorrow. 2020 – The Twins are at Target Field to take on the Baltimore Orioles. But as we all know it did not happen. So far all games this season have been postponed/canceled due to COVID-19. We have now missed 49 games.
2019 – The Seattle Mariners snap the Twins five-game win streak when they salvage the final game of the four game series by beating the Twins 7-4 after the Twins had jumped out to a 3-1 lead. Starter Kyle Gibson went 6 innings and took the loss bringing his record to 4-2. The Twins streak of 13 games in a row with a home run came to an end today, the team record remains at 16 done twice in 2017 and once in 1979. The bright spot was Jorge Polanco going 4 for 5 with a RBI and run scored. As the Twins head to Anaheim to play the Angels the Twins are in first place in the AL Central with a 4.5 game lead and a 30-16 record. Box Score
2018 – Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich hits a sole home run off Addison Reed in the eighth inning breaking a 4-4 tie and the Brew Crew holds on for a 5-4 win as Brewers reliever Josh Hader strikes out the last six Twins that step up to the plate. Fernando Romero started for Minnesota but got a ND on this day. Recent call-up outfielder Jake Cave made his major league debut and hit a home run for his first major league hit. Cave was 1 for 3 with a home run, a stolen base, 2 runs scored and 2 RBI, a nice debut! Cave is the only MN Twins to have a home run and a stolen base in his big league debut. Box Score

2013 – The Twins lost to the Boston Red Sox 5-1 at Target Field extending their losing streak to five on a rainy Sunday afternoon and evening. It was a bad day all around, the Twins were swept in the 3 game series and Joe Mauer’s 15 game hitting streak ended. Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia drove in three runs, scored twice and extended his hitting streak to 11 games. His two-run homer in the ninth bounced off the wrist of a leaping Josh Willingham and over the left-field wall. The Twins only had 5 hits and Trevor Plouffe had 2 of them and scored the Twins only run. Pedro Hernandez was the Twins starting and losing pitcher. The game had a 3 hour rain delay, the longest in Target Field history after the sixth inning. The Twins had planned to show the 1993 movie “The Sandlot” after the game on the big scoreboard but showed the entire movie during the rain delay and still had 80 minutes left over. Box Score
2008 – After blowing a lead, the Twins scored one in the bottom of the 9th inning to tie the score at 6 apiece. The Twins gave up their DH in the 10th inning and Twins reliever Bobby Korecky is forced to hit in the bottom of the 11th and delivers a single in what turns out to be the only time that a Twins pitcher has had a base hit in the Metrodome. Korecky is the first (and to this point the only) Twins pitcher ever to get a hit outside an Inter league contest since the enactment of the designated hitter rule in 1973. The Twins end up scoring on a walk-off double by Howie Clark in the 12th inning. Korecky also gets the victory, his first major league win. The Twins beat the Texas Rangers 7-6 in 12 innings at the Metrodome. Box Score

1990 – Twins outfielder John Moses makes his second appearance as a Twins pitcher in Fenway Park in a 13-1 loss to the Red Sox. Moses pitched one inning allowing two hits and one run. This is the sixth time that a Twins position player has turned pitcher. Twins starter Allan Anderson must have left his “A” game in the bullpen when he warmed up because he didn’t get out of the first inning and allowed five runs. Brian Harper was 2 for 2 with a run scored but no other Twins batter had more than one hit. Red Sox right fielder and former Twins player Tom Brunansky has a huge day going 5 for 5 with a double and 2 home runs, scoring three times with 7 RBI. Box Score

1961 – Outfielder Dan Dobbek hits two home runs with the first one being the Twins first grand slam home run at Metropolitan Stadium as the Twins triumph over the Kansas City A’s 11-1 . The unlucky hurler is Kansas City Athletic pitcher Ed Rakow. Don Mincher also hits a home run and Billy Gardner goes 4 for 4 while Jack Kralick goes the distance for the win. Box Score
