2019 – The Twins completed their nine-game homestand with a record of 5-4 and now the team hits the road for a quick four game series at Kauffman Stadium against the KC Royals. The last place Royals with a 25-49 record make short work of the visiting Twins and beat them 4-1 in just 2 hours and 37 minutes. All-Star Jorge Polanco puts the Twins on the board with a home run in the first inning but as it turns out, that is the only run the team will score. CJ Cron gets two of the teams five hits and Royals pitchers only issue one walk plus the Twins commit three errors. All-Star Jake Odorizzi goes just four innings and allows all four run on 8 hits and a walk. Kohl Stewart pitches 4 sparkling shutout innings of relief allowing just 2 hits. Box Score

1965 – The largest crowd to ever watch the Twins play on the road, 71,245 New York fans watched their beloved Yankees get swept by the Minnesota Twins 6-4 and 7-4 in a doubleheader as the Twins marched towards their first ever World Series. In the first game Minnesota came back with one in the eighth on a Killebrew home run and two in the ninth on a passed ball and a wild pitch to beat the Bombers 6-4. Al Worthington got the win and Jim Kaat got a rare save. In game 2 Harmon Killebrew was 2 for 5 with a home run and 3 RBI. Dick Stigman pitched the final 3.1 innings for starter Dave Boswell and didn’t allow a hit earning the save.
1961 – Twins starter Jack Kralick was breezing along with a four-hitter and a 4-1 lead after eight innings at the Met over the visiting Orioles. Kralick had all but locked up his seventh win of the season when things unraveled in the ninth inning. Twins nemesis Jim Gentile singled and Gus Triandos followed that with another single and all of a sudden the O’s had the tying run at the plate in Ron Hansen. Fortunately for Kralick, center fielder Bill Tuttle made a nice catch on a line drive to center for the first out of the inning bringing up utility player Earl Robinson who was playing right field on this day. The right-handed batting Robinson proceeded to hit a long home run to right field, his first homer of the season and just like that it was a 4-4 game and when Kralick gave up another single to the next batter, he was done for the day. Chuck Stobbs got the Twins out of the inning without further damage. With the score tied 4-4 at the Met against the Baltimore Orioles, Julio Becquer is called upon to lead off the bottom of the ninth as a pinch-hitter against Jack Fisher and he smashes a 370 foot home run over the right-center field screen becoming not only the first Twin to pinch hit a home run but also becomes the first Twins player in history to hit a walk-off home run as the Twins win 5-4. Harmon Killebrew also hit a home run in the game and Chuck Stobbs who pitched to three batters to retire the side in the ninth picked up an easy win. Box Score
