2023 – The Twins beat the Brewers (34-32) at Target Field in front of a good crowd of 34,514 by a score of 7-5. Pablo López was the starter but did not factor into the decision, allowing three runs on four hits in 6 innings (97 pitches) pitched, with one walk and nine strikeouts — one short of his season high. Josh Winder (1-0) got his first win of the season with two scoreless innings of relief. The awakening offense recorded 12 hits, led by Edouard Julien, who went 2-for-4 with a walk. Carlos Correa went 1-for-5 and drove in three runs, including a walk-off two-run homer off Devin Williams with nobody out in the bottom of the ninth, capping a four-run inning. It marked Correa’s 10th career regular season walk-off plate appearance, ninth career walk-off hit and first home run. Box Score
2022 – The Twins beat the Seattle Mariners at T-Mobile Park by a score of 3-2, marking their 11th one-run win this season (11-6). Chris Archer started for Minnesota but did not factor into the decision, allowing one unearned run in 4 innings. The Twins used six relievers as Jhoan Duran earned his eighth hold with a scoreless eighth and Emilio Pagán earned his ninth save with a scoreless ninth. The offense recorded nine hits as Luis Arraez and Byron Buxton each had two hits, including a two-run first-inning homer from Buxton, his 18th of the season. Byron Buxton has been named AL Player of the Week, his second career honor (also August of 2017). He hit .333 (7-for-21) with eight runs scored, a double, five home runs, seven RBI and a 1.095 slugging percentage over six games played. He homered in three straight games from Wednesday-Friday. He delivered back-to-back multi-homer games across Thursday-Friday, becoming the fifth player in Twins/Senators history to accomplish the feat, joining Hall of Famer’s Harmon Killebrew (1959) and Kirby Puckett (1987), as well as Don Mincher (1963) and former teammate Eddie Rosario (2019). According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Buxton’s 17 home runs on the season were the most by a player in his first 43 games of a campaign in franchise history, surpassing the previous record of 16 held by Killebrew in 1959. Thirteen pitchers used by Minnesota and Seattle today in a 3-2 ballgame, seems excessive but that is MLB in these times. Twins minor league infielder Elliot Sota was called up before todays game but did not appear in the game wearing number 80 and was designated for assignment the next day but went unclaimed and returned to the AAA Saints. 2021 – The Astros scored in every inning but the second and third and put a serious thumping on the Twins at Target Field by a score of 14-3. Michael Pineda (3-4) was the starter and loser, allowing three runs on six hits in 4 innings pitched and exited after 64 pitches, experiencing right forearm tightness. The four Twins pitchers that took the mound today allowed 20 hits. The offense recorded seven hits, two each from Trevor Larnach and Nelson Cruz. Cruz hit his 13th home run of the season and
430th of his career and Ryan Jeffers added his third home run, all coming in his last nine games. Framber Valdez (3-0) was the winner. After the games the Twins headed out for Seattle. Box Score
2020 – The Twins are in Kansas City playing the Royals or they are not. In reality nothing has changed, all the games this season have been postponed/cancelled due to COVID-19. 72 games missed so far.

2019 – The Twins beat the Mariners by a score of 10-5, scoring nine runs in the sixth and seventh innings upping their record to 45-22. Michael Pineda was the starter allowing one run on two hits in 5.2 innings pitched but got a ND for his work. The offense recorded 14 hits, three coming from both Nelson Cruz and Ehire Adrianza. Cruz hit his 12th home run of the season and C.J. Cron hit his 15th of the season. The Twins recorded 14-plus hits for the 12th time this season, the most in baseball. Recent call-up Fernando Romero had a rough outing when he was brought in to pitch the 8th inning with Minnesota ahead 10-1. Romero walked the first batter, then allowed a single, then a double, then threw a WP and then walked a batter without retiring anyone and he was done for the day. 2018 – The Twins lose to the Tigers last night at Comerica Park by a score of 5-2. José Berríos was the starter but did not factor into the decision, allowing one run on seven hits in 6 innings pitched. Reliever Addison Reed who the Twins signed this past off-season to a two-year deal allowed five hits and four runs in the eighth inning to earn the loss while pitching just 2/3 of an inning. Newly acquired Matt Belisle was brought in to get the final out. Eduardo Escobar had two of the Twins four hits and drove in both runs. Box Score
2017 – It was the “Hit Parade”. In a game for the ages at Target Field that lasted just 3 hour and 4 minutes and was witnessed by 17,922 Twins faithful the home town boys pound the Seattle Mariners 20-7. Eddie Rosario hitting in the nine spot today leads the hit parade with 3 home runs and Eduardo Escobar goes 5 for 6. DH Kennys Vargas also had four hits in the game and Max Kepler and Brian Dozier also hit the ball out of the park. Kyle Gibson picked up a win in a game that was not exactly pitcher friendly. The Twins set a franchise record with 28 hits, the Mariners had 14 hits. The 28 hits by Minnesota are the most by any major league team since the Rangers had 29 when they scored 30 runs in a game against the Orioles on August 22, 2007. Box Score

2006 – The Twins beat the Red Sox 5-2 in 12 innings on a walk-off grand slam home run by DH Jason Kubel. The game was tied 1-1 after 9 innings and the Red Sox scored one in the top of the 12th to go ahead 2-1 before Kubel hit his grand salami in the bottom of the inning off Sox reliever Julian Tavarez. Tavarez had retired Mauer for the first out but Cuddyer was hit by a pitch, Morneau hit a ground rule double and Hunter was walked intentionally just prior to Kubel’s blast. This game was actually a pitching duel between Johan Santana and Chuck Shilling, both pitchers went 8 innings with Santana striking out 13 and Schilling just five but neither pitcher figured in the final decision. 1997 – Friday the 13th. The Twins play their very first inter-league game and beat the Houston Astros 8-1 in the infamous Astrodome. Chuck Knoblauch leads off the game with a single for the Twins getting their first inter-league hit and Brad Radke goes 8 innings for the win. Knoblauch goes 4 for 4 with a double and triple to go with his 2 singles, scores once and knocks in three more. Paul Molitor hits the first inter-league home run for the Twins. Box Score

1969 – The first place Twins score first against starter Sudden Sam McDowell of the Cleveland Indians and have a 1-0 lead after five innings but the visiting Indians score four times off Jim Perry in the top of the sixth and McDowell goes the distance earning a 6-4 win. All four Twins runs were unearned due to three Indians errors and seven hits and four walks given up by McDowell but yet the Indians walked away winners on this Friday night the 13th at Met Stadium. Harmon Killebrew had a three-run home run in the ninth inning, his fifteenth of he season but McDowell struck out Bob Allison to end the game. Box Score
1967 – The Twins had a comfortable 5-1 lead against the Tigers and Denny McLain at the Met after 5 innings with ace Dean Chance on the mound when all hell broke loose. The Detroit Tigers exploded for 10 runs in the top of the sixth inning off four Twins pitchers and took an 11-5 lead. The Tigers had 8 hits, 3 walks, a wild pitch, a passed ball and 2 Twins errors during their big inning. The Twins bats responded with 5 runs of their own but it was not enough and the Tigers added on a few more runs for a 15-10 come from behind victory. Twins relief pitching with the exception of Jim Roland was just awful. Twins lead-off hitter Cesar Tovar went 3 for 6 with one RBI and scored twice. This was the first time that any team had scored double-digit runs against the Twins in a single inning. Box Score
1961 – Cookie Lavagetto is glad to be back at the helm of the good ship Minnesota Twins and sends Jim Kaat out to the mound at Met Stadium to get the Twins back in the win column. The Athletics get 10 hits off Kaat over six innings and take a 3-0 lead before the Twins come to life in the bottom of the sixth and score three times highlighted by a two-run triple by Billy Martin to tie the game at 3-3 and the Twins seemed to have found the secret to A’s rookie starter Norm Bass who had held the Twins to just a single through the first five innings. Ray Moore kept the A’s off the board in the seventh and the Twins kept on hitting and scored twice to knock Bass out of the game and when the seventh inning came to an end, the score was Twins 7 and and Athletics 3. The A’s kept on hitting the Twins relievers and kept scratching away but when the game ended the Twins had an 8-6 win in spite of being out hit 13-10 thanks primarily to the A’s leaving 12 runners stranded. Ray Moore (4-2) got the victory and Pedro Ramos got the save even though he gave up his 19th home run in 17 games. Harmon Killebrew hit a home run (15), Billy Martin was 2 for 4 with 4 RBI and Earl Battey was 2 for 2 with 2 runs scored. Pinch-hitter Elmer Valo playing in his 20th big league season and who had a single in his last AB for the Twins on June 11th was released and signed with the Phillies. Box Score
