2023 – The Twins lost to the Orioles at Target Field by a score of 6-2. All-Star Sonny Gray (4-3) was the starter and loser, allowing a season-high six runs on six hits in 6 innings pitched. All six runs allowed scored in the top of the second inning on six singles and two walks. It tied his career-high for most runs allowed in a single inning. Sonny retired 13 of the final 14 batters he faced. Other than the sixth inning, Twins pitching allowed zero hits in 8 of the 9 innings. The offense recorded nine hits, three from Donovan Solano, who matched his career high with three doubles and recorded one RBI. But an 0 for 8 with RISP certainly didn’t help their cause. Box Score

2012 – It was 96 degrees when this game began on a hot July evening in Texas. With one out in the top of the fourth inning, in a game against the Texas Rangers at the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington Minnesota’s Ryan Doumit was facing Rangers hurler Roy Oswalt trying to help the Twins break a scoreless tie. Suddenly, a bright flash of lightning appeared and a deafening clap of thunder immediately ensued. Oswalt, along with his teammates, Doumit, and the Twins base coaches scattered and fled into their respective dugouts. The Rangers grounds crew put a tarp on the infield as a 46-minute rain delay began. Here is the video. The Twins had a 1-0 lead going into the ninth and added on two more runs to make it 3-0 but the Rangers scored three unearned run in the bottom of the inning off Glen Perkins to tie the game.  In the bottom the 13th inning Ian Kinsler hit a single of Twins reliever Alex Burnett with one out and the bases loaded and the Rangers had a walk-off win after 4 hours and 32 minutes of action. 2011 – The White Sox jumped out to a quick 5-1 lead over the visiting Twins and starter Nick Blackburn but Blackburn and four Twins relievers shut out the White Sox for the rest of the game and the Twins become 8-5 winners. Twins first baseman Luke Hughes led the comeback effort by going 3 for 4 with a home run and 3 RBI. Blackburn threw 106 pitches in just 5 innings and allowed 10 hits but became the first pitcher in Twins history to allow 5 runs in the first inning and still be credited with the win. Box Score
