2010 – The Minnesota Twins officially take possession of Target Field from Mortensen Construction, a full two months ahead of schedule.
2002 – Ron Gardenhire is named as the Minnesota Twins 12th manager, in spite of the franchise’s uncertain future due to possible contraction. Gardenhire will replace the Twins winningest manager, Tom Kelly. Named Minnesota Twins third-base coach November 1990, also served as bench coach and first-base coach before being named third-base coach again in November 1998. Manager of Class AA Orlando 1989-1990. Manager of Class A Kenosha 1988. Played for New York Mets 1981-85. Gardenhire was fired after the 2014 season and had a 1,068-1,039 record as the Twins skipper. Only Tom Kelly had more Twins wins as a Twins manager. Paul Molitor replaced Gardy as the Twins manager.
