2020 – The Minnesota Twins and the Detroit Tigers will play a Spring Training game at Estadio Quisqueya Juan Marichal in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic on Saturday, March 7th, Major League Baseball (MLB) and the Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA) jointly announced today. The event marks the first MLB game to be played in the DR since 2000 Spring Training, when the Boston Red Sox and the Houston Astros played at the same ballpark. The Tigers will be considered the home team in a game that features two American League Central rivals. Detroit last played internationally in 1980 when they participated in the Roberto Clemente Series in Puerto Rico against the St. Louis Cardinals. The Twins are returning to the international stage after playing in the 2018 Puerto Rico Series against the Cleveland Indians. Minnesota played host for the two-game set and split the series with the Indians. The Twins also participated in the Clemente Series in 1983 against the Chicago White Sox.

1988 – The Twins trade for pitcher Freddie Toliver and send catcher Chris Calvert to Philly in the deal.
