This is the 13th time in franchise history and the eighth time in Twins team history that the team has scored 20 or more runs in a game. The Detroit Tigers have been the unlucky victims of the Twins/Senators 20 or more runs parade on five occasions, four times by the Twins and once by the Washington Senators. Eduardo Escobar goes 5 for 6 with a home run and a triple, walks three times, scores three times, and has an RBI. Danny Santana, Oswaldo Arcia and Trevor Plouffe also hit home runs. In game 2 Jim Kaat shuts out the Tigers through 8 innings but in the ninth he gives up a lead-off single to Dick McAuliffe and then Al Kaline doubles to score McAuliffe and tie the game. In the bottom of the 11th inning McAuliffe again plagues the Twins by hitting a lead-off triple off Twins reliever Al Worthington. Worthington then gets Kaline to pop out for the first out but then Worthington throws a wild pitch with Willie Horton at bat and the run scores for a Tigers 2-1 walk-off win on a WP and a sweep of the DH. Hank Izquierdo had just entered the game as the Twins catcher in the bottom of the 11th inning. With the Red Sox winning both games of a DH and the White Sox splitting a DH the Twins find themselves a game out tied for third place. Cesar Tovar was 2 for 4 with a stolen base and Tony Oliva was 2 for 5 with a double. The Twins were 0 for 12 with RISP in the second game giving them a RISP of 0 for 22 for the day, a tough day at the ballpark for Twins hitters. Box Score
