The Minnesota Twins were known as the Washington Senators before they moved to Minnesota and became the Twins after the 1960 MLB season ended. Let’s take a look at the players that played in over 1,000 games for the Senators and Twins between 1901-2023. Some of the players on this list you will be familiar with and others you will not.
That said, they must all have been very good players or they would have not played in over a thousand major league games. Take a look at these player’s and learn a little about them because as you watch, and listen to Twins games or read about them you will see references to these great players. It is always fun to hear something about a player and be able to picture in your mind what he looked like and what position he may have played.
Several of the players on this list pitched, one started a game, one debuted as a relief pitcher, and another appeared in a mop up role. Lots of interesting information here. The player that appeared in the most games in franchise history is someone you are probably familiar with, Hall of Fame member Harmon Killebrew who played in 390 of his 2,329 games as a member of the Washington Senators or as they were sometimes called the Nat’s or Nationals. Harmon played in over 400 games in three different positions, Outfield, First Base and Third Base. How many of you Twins fans know what position he played the most games in the majors? He is in the MLB Hall of Fame, every Twins fan should know the answer to that one. A player on the Twins 40-man roster might join this select group this year, do you know who it is?
