This Day in Twins History – June 11, 1972

Jim KaatForty one years ago today on June 11, 1972 Jim Kaat hit a home run off Cleveland pitcher Vince Colbert in a Twins 5-3 victory at Cleveland Stadium. It was career home run number 14 for the left-handed swinging Kaat. This now stands as the last home run that has been hit by a Twins pitcher. By the way, Kaat pitched 7 innings that day and got the victory, his seventh win of the season. Kaat hit his first home run on June 19, 1962 off Dom Zanni at White Sox Park and he hit his 16th and final home run off Joe Niekro at Busch Stadium II on August 26, 1980.
