2023 – The Twins lost to the Rays again at Tropicana Field,  this time they were walked-off by a score of 2-1, losing the series and making them 8-10-2 in series play (2-7-1 on the road). The loss made them 1-5-1 in series play since May 15. Pablo López was the starter but did not factor into the decision, allowing one run (Paredes 2nd inning HR) on five hits in 7 innings pitched (92 pitches). Jhoan Duran (1-2) was issued the loss, allowing a walk-off home run to Randy Arozarena on his second pitch in the bottom of the ninth inning. The anemic offense recorded just three hits and walked four times. Royce Lewis drove in the Twins’ only run, tying the game with a single in the top of the ninth inning. Twins starters have averaged 5.7 innings-per-outing, up from 4.8 in 2022. They have also struck out 363 hitters and are on-pace to fan 964 batters, which would shatter the club record of 870, done in 1967. Michael A. Taylor who entered the game as a PR in the top of the ninth had a odd line score of one run scored with two stolen bases and no AB’s. Box Score

Luis Arraez added two hits, giving him a team-leading 18 multi-hit games on the season. Rocco Baldelli was ejected for the seventh time in his career, arguing balls and strikes in the bottom of the seventh inning. Box Score

2021No game today as the Twins have a scheduled day off.

2020 – The Twins play the Angels at Target Field in the final game of a four-game set before hitting the road.  Nothing has changed, all the games this season have been postponed/canceled due to COVID-19. We have now missed 67 games.

2019 – The Twins road-trip continues on to Comerica Park. The hometown Detroit Tigers take a quick 1-0 lead off Twins starter Michael Pineda but the better team prevails as the Twins win 6-3, out-hitting the Tigers 14-11. Pineda returned from his IL stint, allowing three runs on eight hits in 5 innings pitched and the bullpen combined for 4 shutout innings with just three hits as Ryne Harper, the AL oldest rookie this season earned his first career win at the age of 30. Marwin Gonzalez was 4 for 5 with a RBI, Mitch Garver was 3 for 5 with a home run (10) and 3 RBI, while CJ Cron (14) and Nelson Cruz (9) also hit home run for the Bomba Squad. Fan favorite but slumping Willians Astudillo was sent to AAA Rochester after the game.  Box Score

2018 – The Twins beat the White Sox by a score of 7-2 to earn a split of the four-game series against the last place White Sox. Jose Berríos was the starter and winner, pitching the second complete game of his career. Berrios allowed two runs on six hits with no walks and 10 strikeouts in a quick 2 hour 14 minute game that ties the May 25 game for shortest game of the season. The offense had just nine hits but six were for extra bases including home runs by Eddie Rosario, Eduardo Escobar and Ehire Adrianza. Box Score

2017 – Mike Zunino crushed a pair of home runs — including a two-run walk-off with two out in the ninth — as the red-hot Mariners pulled out a 6-5 victory over the Twins on Wednesday night at Safeco Field. Zunino hit his game-winner 437 feet to right-center off Twins closer Brandon Kintzler after Ben Gamel’s two-out single. The Mariners had just five hits on the night, but four were home runs, including Zunino’s third and fourth of the season. Miguel Sano hit a 3-run shot for the Twins but it was not enough. Box Score

1961 – A Yankee five-run third inning does in the Twins in Gotham as Roger Maris and Yogi Berra both go long off Twins starter Pedro Ramos. The Maris home run was number 17 and leads the league. The Yankees had two more hits in the fourth inning but Ramos got out of that situation with no runs allowed and neither he or reliever Ed Palmquist allowed another Yankee hit for the remainder of the game. The Twins can only muster two hits off Yankee hurler Ralph Terry as he goes the distance for the win and the Twins drop into the AL cellar with the 5-1 loss, their 13th loss in a row. The Twins actually had a 1-0 lead when they bunched their two hits in the first inning and then were held hitless by Terry for the rest of the game. The Twins are off to Baltimore to continue their long six city 18 game road-trip. Box Score
