2023 – The Twins beat the Guardians last night at Target Field by a score of 7-6 in walk-off fashion as Willi Castro recorded his first career walk-off with a sac fly. Pablo López was the Twins starter but did not factor into the decision, allowing six runs on eight hits in 5.2 innings pitched. Cleveland scored five runs off López on six hits in the top of the sixth, all on singles. The offense recorded 10 hits as Christian Vázquez and Donovan Solano each had two. Michael A. Taylor hit his seventh home run of the season and Royce Lewis hit his second, a game-tying two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth. The Twins loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth as Castro drove in Ryan Jeffers, the fourth walk-off win for the Twins this season. Griffin Jax (3-6) was credited with the win. Box Score

2022 – The Twins were shut out by the Tigers at Comerica Park 5-0, suffering their second-straight shutout loss and MLB-most seventh of the season. Bailey Ober (1-2) was the starter and loser, allowing five runs on nine hits in 6 innings pitched. The currently anemic Twins offense recorded just two hits, a pair of singles by Jorge Polanco and Gio Urshela. The Twins were shut out in consecutive games for the first time since April 20, 2021 at Oakland, when they were held scoreless in both games of a doubleheader. The Twins have been held scoreless in their last 20 inning on just seven hits. The game was over in 2 hours  and 13 minutes, the shortest game of the season. Box Score

2020 – The Twins are back home to take on Tampa. The fly in the ointment is  that all the games this season have been postponed/cancelled due to COVID-19. We have now missed 61 games. I wonder with all the rioting all over the country this past week how many MLB games would have been postponed even if COVID-19 was not in play.

2019 – A new month begins but the Twins keep on winning as they beat the Tampa Rays 6-2 behind starter Kyle Gibson (6-2) who has to work hard just to go five innings when he allows six hits and one run (none earned). The bullpen hoes the rest of the way allowing one run on three hits preserving Gibson’s win. Jason Castro led the Twins hit parade with a 3 for 4 day with a double and Marwin Gonzalez (6) and Byron Buxton (6) went deep for Minnesota. The Twins finished May with a 21-8 record hitting .286 and set team records with 56 home runs and 191 runs scored in the month of May. The Twins bullpen ranks second in all of baseball in save percentage at 83.3%, going 15-for-18, they have pitched the second fewest innings in baseball (173). Box Score

2018 – It was the Eduardo and Eddie show for the Twins on Friday night, as Eduardo Escobar had two homers and four RBIs, while Eddie Rosario ripped an RBI single, was intentionally walked twice and made two impressive running catches in left. The pair helped the offense to another big night, and this time it resulted in a much-needed 7-4 win over the Indians at Target Field. Minnesota had scored 16 combined runs over the previous two games, but lost both while trying to overcome large early deficits. The win helped the Twins move within 5 1/2 games of the Indians with two games left in the pivotal series. It wasn’t one of his best games but starter Jose Berrios earned the win with 6 innings pitched allowing 4 runs and striking out 7 Indians. Box Score

2017 – The Twins score 3 runs in the top of the ninth inning and beat the Angels 4-2. It all started with an error but there were also 2 hits and 3 walks. In addition; the Twins turned the 12th triple play in their history in the bottom of the fourth inning, (Sano to Dozier to Mauer) and their third time against Anaheim (1966 and 1983). Adalberto Mejia started for Minnesota and went six good innings. Catcher Jason Castro knocked in the tying and winning runs and Joe Mauer took a walk to force in an insurance run. Alex Meyer who the Twins traded to the Angels in 2016 pitched six strong innings for the Angels but got a ND for his troubles.  Box Score

2013 – The Twins trail the Seattle Mariners 4-2 in the bottom of the ninth at Target Field. Seattle closer Tom Wilhelmsen walks the first 3 batters he faces to load the bases and then Josh Willingham scores one with a sac fly and catcher Ryan Doumit becomes the hero with a walk-off triple to clear the bases and send Twins fans home happy. Minnesota native Caleb Thielbar gets his first big league victory. Box Score
